Both Sides of Zero
Both Sides of Zero is upmarket, contemporary fiction about a man moving through grief and reconnecting with the world and with himself. Hagen Tack thought he left his past behind when he fled his small Ohio hometown twelve years ago after the drowning death of his best friend, Kiki Walker. Now thirty, he is a successful but emotionally disengaged New York songwriter. Living with episodic dissociations, he uses what he hears and sees to inspire his lyrics. He sabotages relationships and finds refuge in his apartment “sanctuary,” hoarding talismans meant to keep his memories—and other people—from reaching him.
