Hello and welcome to The Writer’s Blog on sauterwrites.com! Here I will be discussing all things reading and writing—my own and others’. I will be sharing my journey of trying to get a book published and what I have learned that may be helpful to others. As you may have guessed, I am starting my publishing journey a little late in the game, which has its unique set of challenges, and I will be discussing those challenges, too. I am buoyed by others who started later in life and found success, and I hope to pass on that enthusiasm.
In this blog, I will be discussing the novel I have written, Both Sides of Zero, and other works-in-progress. Other topics will include books I am currently reading and reviews of those I just read. I would love to get feedback on what others liked or disliked about these books, as well as feedback on others’ favorite books so I can expand my circle of reading (I lean toward literary right now, award winners and such, but have also loved some book-club fiction recently).
I am obsessed with grammar and usage (but do not claim expertise!) and will be writing about nuts-and-bolts grammar issues as well. My Chicago Manual of Style and my favorite unabridged encyclopedic dictionary are within reach at all times! I would love to know the thorny issues other writers face and how they were resolved.
Since I am currently at the querying stage for my novel, you will see content related to that process and the good resources I have found for drafting a query. I would enjoy hearing from others in the query trenches and what they are doing to thrive.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you will find this blog interesting and informative.
